What will we cover?
-
Unit 1
We start with the fundamental building blocks of effective storytelling, the basis of all good fundraising communications. You’ll learn the 6 key elements of storytelling, how to find good stories and tips and techniques for interviewing.
-
Unit 2
We look at why people give, and the structure of best-practice fundraising letters, along with how to find out more about your donors and their motivations for supporting your cause - and how to use that information for effective personalisation.
-
Unit 3
We move on to all things digital – how to plan a digital campaign, what elements are crucial when drafting content for digital, and how and when to integrate online and offline to make sure your appeals are hitting or exceeding target.
-
Unit 4
We focus on emails and how to make them work for different audiences and types of communication. For many charities, emails are the bedrock of their fundraising appeals program, so it's critical to make sure they're working as hard as possible.
-
Unit 5
Different donor audiences need slightly different messaging - so in this unit, we dive into different communication styles, writing techniques and language for regular givers, bequest prospects and mid to high-value donors.
-
Unit 6
We recap the key lessons from the previous five sessions, and look at the importance of donor journeys. The session also includes plenty of best-practice examples from charities around the world to review as a group.
